THE ORGANIZATION WAS INITIALLY ESTABLISHED TO RAISE FUNDS THOUGH FUNDRAISING EVENTS AS WELL AS ACCEPT CONTRIBUTIONS, DONATIONS AND BEQUESTS FROM THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING A) SCHOLARSHIPS TO GRADUATING STUDENT(S) LIVING AND ATTENDING HIGH SCHOOL AND MCGANN-MERCY HIGH SCHOOL LOCATED IN NEW YORK WHO ARE OR WILL BE ENROLLED IN A COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY OF THEIR CHOICE, B) PROVIDE FOOD BASKETS TO THE HUNGRY AND CLOTHING TO THE NEEDY IN THE COMMUNITY, C) PROVIDE NEEDED SCHOOL SUPPLIES TO UNDERPRIVILEGED CHILDREN IN THE COMMUNITY, D) SCHOLASTIC AND TRAVEL GRANTS FOR CHILDREN ATTENDING APPROVED EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES.

IS AN ALL-VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION. WE ARE NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS WORKING TOGETHER TO HELP EACH OTHER PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO OUR NEIGHBORS IN NEED. THE WAS FOUNDED IN 1981 BY THE INTERFAITH COUNCIL OF FAITH COMMUNITIES. OUR WHEELCHAIR-ACCESSIBLE FACILITY IS LOCATED AT THE PLEASANT STREET UNITED METHODIST CHURCH ON 61 PLEASANT STREET IN MAINE. WHILE MANY OF OUR VOLUNTEERS ARE CHURCH MEMBERS WE ARE A SEPARATE AGENCY THAT ENJOYS TREMENDOUS SUPPORT FROM THE CHURCH. ASIDE FROM A SMALL DONATION TOWARDS THE ELECTRIC BILL WE OCCUPY THE FACILITY COST FREE.

The Highland Games is an annual celebration of heritage. Held on the grounds of Old Westbury Gardens in Old Westbury, NY, the attracts approximately 7,000 attendees each year. culture is presented through musical performances featuring bagpipes, singers bands; displays of highland country dancers; competitions of traditional highland heavy athletic games, such as the throwing of the caber; explorations of ancestry among the family clans; lectures on culture, books other related topics. Attendees can also taste traditional foods such as haggis meat pies, can shop among vendors offering a range of products, including kilts.
